Lane Closures at Woodward, Maple Sunday for Water Main Repair

Several lanes on Woodward Avenue, as well as eastbound Maple Road, will be closed Sunday while crews fix a water main.

Birmingham's Department of Public Services (DPS) will be repairing the water main that crosses Maple at Woodward beginning at 5 a.m. Sunday.

During the project, the following lanes and routes will be closed:

• Two lanes on southbound Woodward will close
• The far left lane on northbound Woodward will close
• Eastbound Maple (heading out of downtown) will be closed the entire day

Westbound traffic on Maple, entering the downtown area, will remain open for the duration of the project.

According to a note from DPS, the project should be finished and the lanes re-opened by 5 a.m. Monday at the latest.
