Most Road Construction Halts for 4th of July
Also, hauling of heavy equipment will be prohibited on Oakland County roads from Friday through Independence Day.

Oakland County, MI — Work on most Oakland County road projects will be temporarily suspended to make travel easier over the 4th of July holiday weekend.
Work suspends at 3 p.m. Friday, July 1, and won’t start again until 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, Road Commission for Oakland County Managing Director Dennis Kolar said in a news release.
“The Road Commission wants to ensure that its roads are as free of obstructions as possible during this period because of the increased holiday traffic we typically see on the Independence Day holiday,” Kolar said. “That should help to ensure safe and convenient holiday travel for motorists in Oakland County.”
Kolar also prohibited the hauling of most heavy earth-moving equipment and other large contractor equipment on county roads (vehicles that require a permit to travel on county roads) during the holiday.
