Former Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock’s estate in Northville Township appears to have been on the market for $799,999 as the Stanley Cup-winning coach prepares to leave the Motor City for an unprecedented coaching deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In May, Babcock signed an eight-year, $50 million contract to coach the Maple Leafs. During his 10 seasons with Detroit, the Red Wings have been a perennial contender for the Stanley Cup.

Babcock’s estate is modest compared with some of the multi-million-dollar properties in Northville Township.

His 4,486-square-foot home at 17891 Stonebrook Cout was listed on both Zillow.com and realtor.com, but Zillow said it’s “off market.” It’s unclear exactly what that means.

At just shy of $800,000, Babcock may have undervalued the property. Zillow estimated its market value at $850,754.

The four-bedroom, six-bath home is a sweet property, according to the description of the two-story colonial on a tranquil cul-de-sac in the prestigious Woods of Edenderry Subdivision.

The expansive, open floor plan has large, open rooms with gorgeous natural light streaming in from all directions. Both the great room and living room have floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful fireplaces. The granite kitchen has cherry cabinets and a two-way fireplace shared with the great room.

The second story is accessible by a majestic main staircase off the foyer and a second staircase conveniently tucked near the kitchen.

The finished basement has tons of windows, a bedroom suite, a recreation room, and a second kitchen area. A private, tree-filled yard backs to woodland area. The porch is covered.

The roof and furnace are newer.
