"Pets Miss People Too" Social Media Challenge
Supports the Do Your Part: Be the Solution awareness initiative and National Recovery Month in September

Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) is launching a social media challenge, “Pets Miss People Too,” on Twitter and Facebook beginning September 1, 2017. The challenge is part of the agency’s “Do Your Part: Be the Solution” awareness initiative and coincides with September being National Recovery Month.
Every day, an average of 2,000 teenager’s nationwide use a prescription drug for the first time without a doctor’s guidance. OCHN’s 2017/2018 campaign focuses on the consequences of drug misuse, which could result in leaving loved ones and even pets behind.
Oakland county residents, especially youth, are encouraged to join the “Pets Miss People Too” challenge by taking a picture of themselves with their pet and posting it on their social media sites. The image should include #DontBeMissed. Participants are being asked to encourage others to like photos on Facebook, retweet on Twitter, and share their own photos.
