Seaholm Stuns Southfield With Second-Half Comeback
The Maples extend their special season with a 17-16 victory over a ranked Southfield High School team at Maple Field.

The Birmingham Seaholm High School Maples scored twice late in the fourth quarter Friday to extend the season with a 17-16 comeback win.
The final score — a 29-yard toss to Austin Paritee — came with just 27 seconds remaining and set up the game-winning extra point before a large home crowd.
The Maples scored all of their points in the second half, and took advantage of a rare inadvertent whistle. According to miprepzone.com, Southfield quarterback Kanye Harris faked a handoff and took the ball for what appeared to be a touchdown with about 8 minutes. The referees, apparently fooled by the handoff, blew the play dead and nullified the scored.
Seaholm's stout defense forced a punt, and quarterback Brandon Altman led the offense for a touchdown to get back into the game.
“I’ve never seen anything like that in the fourth quarter,” Head Coach Jim DeWald told mlive.com. “I’ve never been part of a game like that. Most people would have never believed we could do it.
“Our kids have the heart of a Maple, and they never quit.”
Seaholm (9-1) will face Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice High School (10-0) at 7 p.m. Friday at Hurley Field in Berkley. The Warriors knocked off Birmingham Groves High School 42-0 Friday.Find out what's happening in Birminghamfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
