'Shrek' the Musical Takes Over Groves, and Open Houses This Weekend

'Shrek' the Musical

The Groves High School theater students will present 'Shrek' the Musical starting at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday night for the next two weeks. Sunday matinee performances are scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 3 and Nov. 10. Tickets are $12 for adults; $10 for students, and are on sale at the Groves main office. 

"Company" at the Birmingham Village Players

The Tony Award winning hit musical will take special meaning as feature actress Elaine Stritch, who recently moved back to her hometown of Birmingham, is expected to attend. She played the role of Joanne, on the original Broadway production. Tickets for the show are $19 and are available on the Village Players website. Tickets for a Nov. 3 benefit performance are $25 and are available by calling 248-642-7024.

Crandemonium: Cranbrook Art Museum Benefit 

Enjoy a night of food, entertainment and irresistible art from some of Cranbrook Academy of Art’s most talented alumni during a special benefit for  the Cranbrook Art Museum’s education programs at  7 p.m. Saturday. Marian Open House

Get a peek inside Marian High School during the annual Fall Open House on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 1-4 p.m. Applications for the Class of 2018 are due Dec. 5, 2013. The Catholic High School Placement Test will occur on Nov. 23 and Dec. 7. Visit the School's website for more information.

Birmingham Public High Schools Open Houses

Take tours of Groves and Seaholm high schools from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 as part of the annual Birmingham Public Schools Open House. Learn more about the buildings and experiences they and the staffs working inside can provide for students. Tours during school days are also available by calling 248-203-3000.
