Tornado, Flood Watches in Effect for Sunday

Heavy rain forecast for today, but sunny and around 90 degrees tomorrow.

If you have outdoor Memorial Day weekend plans, better get them in sooner than later. Birmingham and the rest of southeastern Michigan are under tornado and flood watches. Thunderstorms with the potential to produce very heavy rain are expected to move across southeast Michigan this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch through 8 p.m. The flood watch that runs through late tonight includes Oakland County because soils remain saturated from recent heavy rainfall  and rivers, creeks and streams are already running higher than normal.

The good news:  The NWS forecast for tomorrow is mostly sunny with highs up to 91 degrees with southwest winds 5-15 mph.
