WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Dave Trott (MI-11) applauded President Trump's nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. In a press release, Rep. Trott said "I commend President Trump's selection of Judge Neil Gorsuch as his nominee to the Supreme Court. Judge Gorsuch has some big shoes to fill, and I am confident, that as he progresses through the nomination process, the Senate will find him an experienced legal mind, a staunch protector of the Constitution, and someone worthy of this prestigious seat on the Supreme Court."

Gorsuch, a Colorado native, is currently a Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver, a post he has held since being appointed by President George W. Bush in 2006. Gorsuch earned his B.A. at Columbia University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Doctor of Philosophy from University College at the University of Oxford.

There has been an empty seat on the Supreme Court bench for nearly a year since the Feb. 2016 death of Justice Antonin Scalia. However, before Gorsuch can claim that seat he first faces a grueling confirmation hearing.
