Vote Birmingham Groves For Channel 7's Game of the Week

Sometimes is not how you play, but who you play. The Birmingham Groves Falcons, coming off a tough 2-7 campaign in 2012, have an opportunity to make this Friday's season opener memorable. They will be the very first visitors at a football game hosted at the new Bloomfield Hills High School at 7 p.m., and have a chance to have the game featured on local television. 

Voting is now open to make the inaugural match-up between Bloomfield Hills and Groves on Lahser's former Dauch Field the Meijer Game of the Week on WXYZ Channel 7. The cross-OAA league game is one of five on the list of probables, including defending state champion Detroit Cass Tech, which was way ahead of the pack with 33 percent of the vote Monday morning. 

The Bloomfield-Groves game was last with just 4 percent at that time, according to the station's website. 

Voting remains open through Wednesday, and a winner will be declared on Thursday. Channel 7 sports reporter Brad Galli will report live from the winning game during news broadcasts at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on game day, and highlights of the game will be shared on the 11 p.m. news.
