What They're Saying About the New Eddie Merlot's
The new restaurant just on the outskirts of Birmingham is making an impression on local diners online.

Eddie Merlot's, a Midwest chain of high-end steak houses, and left a favorable impression with Birmingham Patch readers and area residents.
"We dined at this new restaurant a few days after it opened and we are THRILLED it is near our home as the service and food quality are top notch!" said Bloomfield Patch reader Mia Moore.

"Seriously, I did not expect this- I had heard mixed things but this was a home run- from our waiter Luis (awesome) to ALL our food picks (two couples) we LOVED it!!!," wrote Kevin E., of Birmingham. "Ambiance was so so (too big, older crowd) but food was off the hook!"
The local restaurant — the chain's first expansion into Michigan — is at the bottom floor of the office building located at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Big Beaver Road, just north of the Bloomfield-Birmingham border. It offers prime-aged steaks and an extensive selection of the finest wines. The company is a division of the Indiana-based Platinum Restaurant Group, Inc., and currently boasts locations in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, Indiana; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Warrenville, Burr Ridge and Lincolnshire, Illinois.

Other than an initial press release, no one from the company was able to comment Monday.
Though it certainly seems to appeal to steak lovers and couples, not everyone was immediately impressed with having a new, high-end dining destination in town.
"Oh Yay! Just what we need - ANOTHER overpriced steakhouse in the Birmingham area," Courteney Gettel wrote in comments on a story in Birmingham Patch.
Mio responded with more supportive comments:
"This is such a wonderful restaurant . . . we dined there a couple days after they opened and had a WONDERFUL experience!" she wrote. "The food and service quality was outstanding and we did not feel like it was over priced at all! We love that is close to home."
