You Won't Get Treated Like This at Mall: Valet Parking

From Black Friday through Dec. 24, the Birmingham Shopping District is offering valet parking — and it's free on Small Business Saturday.

One of the ways the Birmingham Shopping District plans to lure holiday shoppers away from malls and big-box stores to its 300 downtown retailers is with valet parking, which will be available from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays from Black Friday through Dec. 24.

The service is offered for $4, except on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28, when it’s free from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Also on Small Business Saturday, parking is free in parking decks on on the streets.

Shoppers will drop their vehicles off at two locations: on Old Woodward at Maple (in front of Panera Bread), and on Henrietta Street at Maple (next to Roots). As an added convenience, shoppers may call the valet service before they pick up their vehicle to ensure it is ready when they return to the valet stand.

In the past, the service was available three days a week during the holiday shopping season.

“This year we’ve extended the valet parking service to Mondays through Saturdays, rather than Thursdays through Saturdays, as an added convenience for shoppers,” John Heiney, executive director of the Birmingham Shopping District, said in a news release. “We encourage shoppers to take advantage of the service whether it’s for a quick lunch or a long shopping spree.”
