BHHS Blood Drive

The time to make a difference by donating blood is now. Visit Bloomfield Hills High School throughout the day today and donate for the American Red Cross. Appointments between 8 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. are available by contacting Jessica Lupone at jlupone@bloomfield.org; Natalie Langnas  at nlangnas@gmail.com; or Ameen Khaleel at ameenks@gmail.com. Contact Beth Sinclair at tbsinclair21@gmail.com or Tressa Mucci at tsmucci@comcast.net for appointments between 2 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. Donations will support Muslims for Life, a national campaign that collects units of blood to honor victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. 

"This year we thought we wold collect as many units as we could to save lives and honor the lives lost on 9/11," said Heba Al-Sabhir, a BHHS junior and co-president of the school's Muslim Student Association. The organization seeks to collect 12,000 units of blood, which can save 36,000 lives.

Election Day

Four candidates filed nominating petitions for the three open seats on the Bloomfield Hills City Commission, and four amendments to the City Charter are also on the ballot. Bloomfield Hills voters will also vote on three spots on the Baldwin Public Library Board. Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.


62nd Annual Jewish Book Fair

The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit in West Bloomfield will host its 62nd Annual Jewish Book Fair from Nov. 6-17featuring leading figures from the arts, entertainment, politics, business, journalism and much more. Click here for an entire schedule.

Anti-Bullying at Eastover

Eastover Elementary School launches a new anti-bullying campaign this week and will host a special “Dare to be Different!” school-wide assembly at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 6. Special visits by Paws the Detroit Tigers' Paws mascot, Officer Racine of the Bloomfield Township Police Department's K-9 Unit and a performance by Bloomfield Hills High School students and budding recording artists “Stereo Jane.”


Brother Rice Football

Brother Rice High School's march toward a third-consecutive Division 2 title in football continues Friday at 7 p.m. as the Warriors (10-0) host Seaholm High School (9-1) at Hurley Field in Berkley. Brother Rice soundly defeated Seaholm's chief rival Groves 45-0 last Friday. Seaholm enters the contest coming off a huge 17-16 comeback win over Southfield on Maple Field.
