Can You Catch A Cute Cat Napper?

If you've got a cat that likes to sleep around, keep that camera or smart phone handy and you can win a $100 shopping spree at the Pet Supplies Plus in Bloomfield Township. 

The first Pet Supplies Plus Cat Nap Photo Contest — an exclusive offering only at the Bloomfield location — is under way. Just take the best, unique photo of your cat, or any cat napping and you can win. The judges, Bloomfield Pet Supplies Plus employees, will be looking for pics that fit the following criteria, said owner Addy Shattuck:

• Most unique place for a cat nap
• Most comical napping position
• Most unusual sleeping companion

"We're looking forward to seeing a lot of cat photos that make us go "awwww", and I'm sure a lot of chuckles too," Shattuck said. "Cats find the funniest places to sleep."  

And if you're a frequent customer, don't forget to feature any photos of cats  adopted out of the store's "Kitty City," a free roaming adoption center with no cages.

All entries must be original photos in electronic format and emailed to catnapphotocontest@comcast.net by Aug. 1. Visit www.nootersclub.org for complete contest rules.

Shattuck said they developed the contest idea locally as a fun way for community members to show off their pets. It also gives staff the opportunity to introduce the annual "Cat's Pajamas" 200-cat, 48-hour adoption marathon scheduled from Aug. 9 - 11 at the Bloomfield Township location. 

"The 'cat nap contest' ties right in with our event since the cats will be napping, but we won't be!" Shattuck said. "But we will be in our pajamas."
