Catalytic Converter Stolen; Counterfeit Bill Used in Bloomfield Township

Bloomfield Township Police Department investigated multiple theft and larceny cases.

A resident in the 5000 block of Whethersfield reported that the catalytic converter was cut off from a vehicle parked at the residence on Jan. 9, police Bloomfield Township Police Department reports said. The victim said he discovered the damage to his Chrysler minivan shortly after 8 a.m. The theft occurred sometime after 1 a.m. that day. There were no witnesses and no suspect information was available. 

Detectives are investigating several similar thefts of the auto part, which is often sold for scrap due to the precious metals inside.

Counterfeit Cash

An employee at the Mobil Gas Station, located at 3975 Telegraph Rd., told police that someone used a counterfeit $20 to make purchases between Jan. 11-13. Management discovered the bogus bill during a routine money count. No suspect information was available. The case was forwarded to detectives who are investigating.


Cell Phone Taken

An employee at the China Village, located at 1655 S. Opdyke Rd., reported that someone took her iPhone from behind the counter while she tended to customers on Jan. 15, police said. Officers and the employee were able to utilize a “Find my I-phone” app and learned the phone was in the Clarkston area, but could not pinpoint an exact location. The case was turned over to detectives for follow up.
