DaVita Home Dialysis Moving Into Bloomfield Township

Clients will get specialized training on how to perform kidney dialysis in the comfort of their own homes at the new Squarewood Shopping Center location.

Last year, Bloomfield-Bloomfield Hills Patch readers shared their visions for the long-standing vacancy at the Squarewood Shopping Center on Bloomfield Township's north end.

On Wednesday, crews installed the sign for DaVita Home Dialysis — and international company that delivers dialysis services for chronic kidney failure and renal disease — on to the building facing Square Lake Road at Woodward Avenue.

Renovations began at the 3,400-square-foot facility in April, and should be complete  for a targeted opening in mid-fall, said company spokesman Justin Forbis. The business will focus solely on training patients for home hemodialysis.

"Home dialysis differs from traditional in-center by giving patients more flexibility in the times and frequency that they dialyze," said Forbis, who is based at the company's headquarters in Colorado.

It will be the latest of 33 dialysis centers in Wayne and Oakland County.
Though some readers may have preferred a grocery store or ethnic food option, Forbis said the Bloomfield area was specifically targeted and that the business can provide a valuable service to greater Bloomfield community.

"The area was chosen to accommodate a growing patient population in order to offer reduced travel times and overall more convenience," he said.
