Intruder Threatens Bloomfield Township Homeowner with Screwdriver
The female burglar took jewelry and threatened to kill the homeowner while wielding a screwdriver when confronted, police said.

Investigators with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are trying to identify a woman that reportedly broke into a home and threatened a resident with a screwdriver during an incident Sunday.
The owner of the home in the 4000 block of School Bell Lane told police he was working in the backyard and discovered the intruder when he went inside at about 11:20 a.m., reports said. The 65-year-old man said he saw jewelry sticking out from the woman's pockets and attempted to detain her so he could call police, but she pulled out a screwdriver and threatened to kill him.
The victim let her pass and watched her run toward Inkster Road while calling police. He was not harmed.

A police K-9 unit arrived at the scene and attempted a track the woman, but was unsuccessful, reports said. The female is described as between 45-50 years old, and dark-skinned, possibly black. She stood about 5’6” and weighed about 150 lbs.
A full description of what she took was unavailable. Police said she likely entered through an unlocked door while the homeowner conducted his yard work, which is a common method of home invasion thefts during the early spring and summer. Older residents, in particular, tend to be targeted because there usually is no physical confrontation if the perpetrator is confronted.
