Landscaping Companies Report Equipment Thefts in Bloomfield
Multiple companies reported thefts of chainsaws and other equipment this week in both Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township.

Officers with both the Bloomfield Township Police Department and the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety investigated reports of stolen lawn equipment form landscaping companies. It is unclear if the incidents are related, and no suspect information was available.
Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department responded to the 5000 Block of Longmeadow Drive on March 26 for a report of a stolen chain saw from a tree service vehicle. It appeared that someone entered a cabinet on the side of a truck and took the item. The cabinet was unlocked while the workers were at the location, and they told police they could tell the suspect attempted to open all the other exterior cabinets on the vehicle that were locked.

Workers did indicate they observed some suspicious vehicles earlier in the morning near the trucks, but no specific information was available. The investigation is ongoing.
Two chainsaws were also taken from a Davey Tree Service truck parked in the 1000 block of Arbor Court in Bloomfield Hills on March 22, police reports said. Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded at about 2 p.m. and encountered the crew supervisor who said the two tools were removed from an unlocked side compartment of the truck.

The chainsaws, valued at about $400, were taken sometime between noon and 1 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety are also investigating a larceny off of a company truck in the 1000 block of Lone Pine Road. They responded at about 11 a.m. on March 26 and learned that an unattended backpack gas blower was taken from the KLM Landscape truck, reports said. The item is valued at about $300.Â
