UPDATED: More Than 300 Bloomfield Area Residents Without Power

Late afternoon storms cause havoc, widespread power outages in Oakland County.

 

Updated at 5:30 a.m.: The DTE Energy outage map indicates that power should be restored to Bloomfield Township residents by 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Roughly 400 Bloomfield Township residents lost power during this afternoon's heavy rainstorm, according to the DTE Energy outage map.

The majority of those affected (295) appear to be in the area between Woodward Avenue and Franklin Road north of Square Lake Road. More than 70 are without power in the area west of Telegraph Road near Turtle Lake. The power went out at 2:30 p.m. and no estimated restoration time was available at 6:30 p.m.

Another 35 customers lost power in the area between Lahser Road and Telegraph  about an hour earlier.

The rain is expected to continue and flooding is possible tonight. Temperatures are also expected to drop overnight and throughout Friday as a cold front moves in. The National Weather Service predicts a high temperature of 52 degrees at 8 a.m. that will drop to the low 40s throughout the day. There's a chance of snow showers Friday night, with wind gusts of about 35 miles per hour.
