Police Bust Pasta Fagioli for Alleged Alcohol Violations

Acting on a tip, the Bloomfield Township Police Department conducted a sting and reported multiple violations.

Patrons of Pasta Fagioli who thought they could bring and drink their own wine while dining are actually violating state liquor laws, police said.

Undercover officers with the  Bloomfield Township Police Department recently conducted a sting at the restaurant on the township's north side and confirmed the restaurant allowed the customers to bring their own bottles of wine for consumption during dinner, reports said.

The practice is a direct violation of state law since Pasta Fagioli does not have a liquor license. The May 3 operation occurred in response to an anonymous tip.

Upon witnessing multiple violations, the officers identified themselves and detained the owner Hamad Kouka on site for questioning, reports said. They later released him on scene pending charges from the Oakland County Prosecutors Office.

Kouka responded to a voicemail message from Patch Tuesday but declined to discuss specifics of the incident. He acknowledged the business does not have a liquor license, but said there have been no indication of charges, yet.

"There are no charges, and that's all I can really say at this point" he said said. He said he had not retained an attorney about the matter Tuesday morning.
