Police Investigate Mulch Theft From Bloomfield Township Lowe's

Perpetrators cut the security fence and took more than a dozen bags overnight, police said.

A pair of thieves went to a lot of trouble to steal more than a dozen bags of mulch from outside the Lowe's in Bloomfield Township last week, police reports said.

Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department responded to the home-improvement store on the township's north side after employees reported the outer steel storage fence was cut open on the morning of April 5. Police reviewed footage from the store's security system and saw two men cut through the fence at about 3 a.m. that morning and drag away 14 bags of mulch, reports said.

No distinct physical descriptions of the men or the vehicle they pulled up in were available. The mulch was collectively valued at $70, but the damage to the fence is expected to cost much more, police said, though no estimate was available.
