Police Probe Counterfeit Bill; Unrelated Home Invasion in Bloomfield Township

The Bloomfield Township Police Department provided this information based on police reports from the past week.

Home Invasion

A resident in the 4000 Block of Charing Way told officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department that he returned home on May 15 and discovered someone smashed the glass to the back door and forced their way inside, reports said. Multiple pieces of jewelry valued at about $1,200 were taken. No suspect information was available and the investigation is on-going.

Counterfeit bill passed

Employees at the Subway, located at 43153 Woodward Ave., told police that someone used a $100 counterfeit bill at the shop on May 8, according to police reports. Store managers told officers that they are using surveillance video footage to try and identify a suspect, but that no specific description was available. The counterfeit bill will be turned over to the U.S. Secret Service for analysis.

  • Employees at the Chase Bank, located at 1116 W. Long Lake Road, reported that someone cut the copper sprinkler pipe off of the exterior of the building, reports said. They reported the theft on May 10, and said they believe the theft took place between May 1 and May 10th. The pipe was valued at roughly $3,100.
  • A resident in the 1000 Block of Trailwood Path told police that someone cut the lock off his bicycle and stole on May 15. The mountain bike, valued at roughly $800, was locked on the fence of the home.
