Introducing Brighton High Schools own version of American Idol, the Brighton Idol for all the students to participate.

Hayden Vernier

Brighton Idol is a huge hit
This year we introduce an exciting new after school activity,Brighton Idol. Brighton idol is where students compete head to head in a singing competition. Brighton Idol is brand new to our school. It was held and ran by choir teacher,Mr. Johnson. Next year they are expecting a much bigger turn out and will be held around the same time. The show was on September 28 and the skillful winners were Senior Parker Garman ,Senior Lindsey Whiteside ,and Senior John Davis. Lindsey Whiteside won best female singer, John Davis won best male singer and Parker Garman won People's choice. People's choice is when the crowd votes on their favorite singer in the contest. Senior Parker Garman won by singing the song “Who's loving you” by John Mayer.
The Brighton Idol is a new unique experience that hit hard in our school shocking everyone who partook in this event because of the turn out. It was ran kinda like a fundraiser, which all money goes back to the school so that we can keep doing Brighton Idol and have it grow each year, but also the money will go into other things to help out the choir and band classes. It was such a success that teacher Mr. Johnson was confident it'll be even bigger next year with bigger spouncers to bring in more money used for the school.
‘’I did Brighton Idol because i'm pursuing a career in music and thought it was a good opportunity within the school.’’ Garman said.
Brighton Idol helps our school but will also help our students. If you are planning on becoming a artist you could see how you do in front of a live audience. If you write songs and you're unsure how they sound Brighton Idol gives you a chance to perform them and get feedback.
‘’I liked going to Brighton Idol me and my friends went to see what it was about I'm probably going next year but I wish people would sing more of my type of music like rap or a faster past song’’ freshman Ben Vernier said.
Brighton Idol is not the only musical act but a social outing where you can support friends and fellow classmates. Brighton Idol would be a good time with a group of friends to watch everyone in the school with musical talent compete for schools best singer. Its also a great way to support our school and peers.
