The week of April 23, three teams went head to head to compete to be Brighton High Schools 2018-2019 executive board. Teams Kindness and Generosity and Zenith really brought their a-game, but Team Triumph took the win. Every team was dedicated and really put forth great effort.
“When I found out that we won, there were no words. I was so happy and proud our team. We’re so excited for what’s in store for next year,” Junior Maxx Renicker said.
Each group had a set of platforms of different ideas that they had and wanted to enforce. The majority of the student body really liked what Team Triumph offered to do in the next school year. The platforms included a skate for Darian, teacher appreciation, student recognition, silent dance, and BHS patriot platform.
“I voted for team Triumph because I really liked the idea of student recognition. I feel that so many students make such a huge impact in the school, but no one even really knows and they deserve to be recognized for there outstanding achievement,” Junior Jacob Neifert said.
The student recognition will be for clubs that aren’t recognized enough. They will receive a trophy case in their honor. The goal is for students to feel appreciated in school. It’s doesn’t matter what clubs students participate in, it’s there hard work that will be acknowledged.
“I think the platform that really attracted people to vote for us was the skate for Darian Locklear. Her loss really affected everyone, whether you knew her or not and I know that students really wanted to show their support but didn’t know how,” Junior Austin Lally.
“ I voted for Team Triumph because I really liked all there platforms, but my favorite one was the skate for Darian. I think it’s really important to support her in anyway that we can,” Sophomore Raegan Hammond.
Kensington Valley ice house would host the event. The entry fee will go to either Darian Locklear memorial fund or another charity of Regina Locklear. Everyone is welcome to come out and support.
Win or lose, students will constantly find ways to still remain involved in school and make an impact. Platforms can be enforced in so many different ways when student have the drive and motivation.
