Baker College's Jackson campus to bestow diplomas on 350+ graduates June 10

Baker College’s Jackson campus will recognize 344 graduates at a 2016 commencement ceremony at 7 p.m., Friday, June 10, Jackson High School Auditorium, 544 Wildwood Ave., Jackson. The event will include graduates who attended the Jackson and Coldwater campuses.

"At Baker College, our focus is firmly fixed on providing the quality education necessary for our students to succeed in their chosen careers," said Steve Simpson, Ed.D., Baker College of Jackson president. “As they graduate and move into those careers, we commend them on achieving this milestone.”

The graduation reflection speaker will be Marquee Maylum, of Holt, who will receive an associate degree in veterinary technology.

Several awards will be presented to outstanding graduates at the ceremony:

· Business Administration Award — Thomas Pancoe, of Jackson, bachelor’s degree in business administration.

· Human Services Award — Bobette Morgan, of Dansville, bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

· Health Sciences Award — Julaine Miller, of Coldwater, associate degree medical assistant.

· Technology Award — Benjamin Carroll, of Jackson, bachelor’s degree in cyber defense.

The Teaching Excellence Award will be presented to Bradley Schweda, director of the human services program.

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will post the colors during the ceremony. Dena O'Connor, of Kalamazoo, will sing the national anthem, and Tamra Chaney, of Jackson, will sing “America the Beautiful.” O’Connor will receive an associate degree in surgical technology; Chaney will receive an associate degree in therapeutic massage. Baker College faculty, staff and students who have served or are currently serving in the military will wear the red, white and blue cords.
