Chelsea Police Blotter: Items Stolen from Cars in Parking Lot

Cell phone, purse stolen from car
Around 6:15 p.m. Oct. 12, police responded to the 20000 block of W. Old US 12 on the report of a larceny from a motor vehicle.Upon arrival the officers met with the victim who stated that she had parked her vehicle in the parking lot around 4:50 p.m. and when she returned to her vehicle at around 6:15 p.m. she noticed that the passenger side front window had been forcibly smashed out and her purse and cell phone had been stolen, the police report states.
While at the Chelsea Police Department the officer received notification by the victim who said she had just found out that her debit card had just been used to purchase gasoline from a gas station in Dexter, police said.
Surveillance footage shows a man, possibly Caucasian, driving a white mid-size sedan with one or two other occupants pull up to the pump and purchase the gasoline using the stolen debit card. The case remains open pending further investigation, according to police.

After checking the vehicle for any property that was missing she noticed that her purse had been taken from the vehicle. The case remains open pending further investigation, police said.
