Around 3 a.m. on Sept. 7, Chelsea Police officers on a routine patrol noticed a full-sized white van backed into a parking lot near M-52 and I-94. According to a police report, the van was occupied and had what appeared to be fresh wrappers/trash outside of the driver’s window.

An officer approached the vehicle to investigate and made contact with the driver, a 35-year-old Chelsea man, who admitted to throwing the trash out of the vehicle, the report states.

A routine name check was done on the driver and it was determined that the driver had three outstanding bench warrants out of the City of Romulus and also Chelsea for traffic and animal violations, police said.
