Hazardous Weather Alert: Stormy Afternoon Ahead

Storms could pack a punch in southeast Michigan.

A storm system with a history of winds strong enough to tear off roofs is expected to move into the metro Detroit area about 2 p.m. Monday, Accuweather.com said.

Torrential downpours, damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes are expected with this storm.

Avoid stopping, standing or parking under trees to avoid injury or damage to vehicles from tree limbs that might fall in the storm. Power outages are possible.

Storms are also possible tonight, but shouldn’t be as severe, Accuweather said.

Still, they may delay the Ford Fireworks, scheduled to be set off over the Detroit River about 10 p.m.
