Purple Rose Theater To Debut Jeff Daniels' 'Flint'

Play Takes On Water Crisis And Aftermath

Jeff Daniels will debut his new play, Flint, at his Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea early next year. Pre-sale tickets are already available for the play, set in the eponymous Michigan city. Daniels wrote the script, and wants audiences to come away with not only a better understanding of one of the state’s greatest tragedies, but also with deeper reflections about the loss of jobs in the area.

"In our intimate 168-seat Purple Rose Theatre, ‘Flint’ will bring you up close and personal with the play's four characters." Daniels told Broadway World, adding "I want you in the room with them. I want you to feel what they're feeling. The play also asks a bigger question: Tragic as it is for all those involved, is what happened in Flint about more than the water? Did the departure of the auto industry help set the stage for where we are now?"

Flint runs Jan 18-March 20, 2018 at the Purple Rose. Tickets range from $20.50-$46, and are available through the Purple Rose Theater website.
