Closing And Delay Info For Chelsea Public Schools

Parts of Metro Detroit can expect up to three inches or more of snow this week, per the National Weather Service. While three inches isn’t generally an issue for most Michigan cities and towns, it does signal the time of year when parents will want to have all school delay and closing info sources close at hand.

Chelsea School District lays out all of its inclement weather policies and procedures in a handy web documentThey also use automated calls to alert parents to closings and delays. If you want to call in, there’s a transportation hotline. Call 734-433-2200 and press 8 to hear if school is in session as scheduled. Finally, if you follow the school district’s Twitter feed, Chelsea also makes school closing announcements there, too.

Breezy until evening and mostly cloudy throughout the day. High 31, low 12.
Chance of precipitation: 49%. Wind 18 mph from the NW
Wednesday December 13
Snow (1–2 in.) starting in the evening. High 23, low 7.
Chance of precipitation: 27%. Wind 8 mph from the WNW
Light snow is predicted Wednesday, but the real issue may be the freezing temperatures and even colder-seeming windchill. Remember, schools sometimes close because of extremely cold temperatures, so be sure to check before sending little ones out to the bus, set them on their walk to school, or before driving them, even when there’s little to no snow.
