Some Thunderstorms Could Be Damaging: 7-Day Forecast for Chelsea, Dexter and Saline

Hazardous weather, including the possibility of large hail and tornados, could move into the southeast Michigan Friday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather statement.

Affected counties include Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Livingston, Washtenaw and Genesee. The greatest threat for severe weather is from 2-8 p.m., during which the potential exists for thunderstorms to develop, some of them severe with the capability of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and large hail.

“In addition,” according to the statement, “tornadic activity will be possible.”

Also, a flood warning was issued for Wayne and Macomb counties Friday morning and remains in effect until 11:45 a.m. Heavy rains caused some flooding on Interstates 696 and 94, which were closed for a time Friday morning.
