University of Michigan Team Discovers More Mammoth Bones

A team of paleontologists from the University of Michigan conducted a second dig at a Chelsea farm last week, uncovering 40 more bones and other artifacts from a wooly mammoth.

The ice-age specimen first made news in 2015 when farmer James Bristle found bones on his property. Live has been following this story, and says that the university decided on a second excavation when testing of the initial set of bones found a radiocarbon date indicating them to be more than 15,000 years old.
