Power Restored in Clawson; Classes Canceled for Middle School

Hundreds of DTE Energy customers lost power Monday morning.

It wasn't the wind that knocked out power to about 500 DTE Energy customers in Clawson this morning, including , it was a bird.

Service was restored by 11 a.m. Monday. DTE spokesman Alejandro Bodipo-Memba said. A bird hit some of the DTE Energy equipment, which forced the utility to shut down power this morning, Bodipo-Memba said. The area affected was between North Washington and Rochester Road in Clawson.

Clawson Middle School canceled classes shortly before school started at 7:45 a.m., Superintendent Cheryl Rogers said.

Some parents were informed upon dropping off their students, however school officials are reaching out to other parents to ensure students make it to a safe location.

 and the  also lost electricity and were working with generator power, Mayor Penny Luebs said.
