Another Venture for Leon & Lulu

Roller rink turned high-end furniture store expands into Clawson Theater building.

The retailer Leon & Lulu, which converted the former Ambassador skating rink into a high-end furniture and gift store 10 years ago, is expanding. The historic Clawson Theater, located next door to the original location, will open Saturday as The Show at Leon & Lulu. The theater, in its glory days in the 1930s, was lovingly referred to as The Show.

In addition to eclectic clothing and furniture, the new location will feature an extensive collection of high-end greeting cards and eventually a cafe. Also Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. artist Nora Fleming will be on hand at the original location (96 W. Fourteen Mile Rd.) to sign her artwork, giving away limited edition items. Her appearance, part of the store's "Thanks for the Mammaries" breast cancer awareness campaign, will raise funds for Karmanos Cancer Institute.

The Show at Leon & Lulu is at 116 W. Fourteen Mile Rd. It will open at 10 a.m. Friday.
