Clawson Resident Wins Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence

Christina Boyland is this year's winner in the Distinguished Alumni category of Oakland University's Nightingale Awards

Christina Boyland, a nurse at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, was named the winner of a Nightingale Award in the Distinguished Alumni category. The Nightingale Award recipients are announced each year by Oakland University’s School of Nursing and its Board of Visitors in recognition of exceptional nurses in Michigan.

The Clawson resident was one of 11 Nightingale Award winners this year. Each winner receives a check for $1,000, a solid bronze statue of Florence Nightingale and a Nightingale ceremonial pin. Nominees were nominated by their peers, supervisors and patients in recognition of their superior nursing expertise.

Now in its 32nd year, the Oakland University Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence® recognizes the work of outstanding nurses who go above and beyond in caring for patients and families. This year’s Nightingale Awards event celebrates 2020 being designated the “International Year of the Nurse” and commemorates the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale.
