Girl Scouts recruiting new members, volunteers in southeast Michigan
DETROIT—Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) announced that membership and volunteer opportunities are available to girls and adults throughout the region. Girls and adults are kicking off the 2016-2017-membership year just as students return to school.
“Girl Scouts provides girls with a safe environment for trying new things, making them greater challenge-seekers, more academically proficient students, and, eventually, more successful adults,” said Ruth Zamierowski, GSSEM director of recruitment.

Girls can participate in Girl Scouts either as part of a troop or as an individual Girl Scout. Adult volunteers are needed to be troop leaders, or to serve in a variety of other roles.
“Back to school time is the perfect time to get started. New troops are forming and existing troops have new availability as girls move up to their next Girl Scouting level. Also, we always need volunteers to support and mentor the girls’ in their Girl Scouting experiences,” Zamierowski said. “It’s easy to get started just by giving us a call to get a troop started in your school or organization.”
