GM to Move Cadillac HQ to New York
Automaker hopes the new location will raise the brand's prestige in the luxury car arena.

Days after announcing it would be manufacturing its new model Cadillac in Detroit, General Motors on Tuesday said Cadillac’s new business headquarters will be moving to New York, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The move is meant to raise Cadillac’s brand prestige in the luxury car arena to the same level as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Lexus, the report stated.

The new headquarters will concentrate on sales and marketing with about 100 employees, including around 30 who will move from Detroit, the report stated. Manufacturing and product development will stay in Detroit, the report added.

A Cadillac spokesman said the decision to move headquarters had nothing to do with where Cadillac’s new president, Johan de Nysschen, wants to live, the report stated, adding that the decision to predates de Nysschen’s hiring.
