Library to Reopen Monday After $1.6-Million Project

After four-month closure for renovations, patrons will find more space for meetings and children's programs as well as more computers.

After a $1.6-million renovation, the is set to reopen its doors to the public next Monday.

The library, which closed for construction in late July, now has an additional 4,000 square feet for a children's section, conference room and study room. There are also new windows, carpet and furniture, and the heating and cooling systems were replaced.

Eight computers have been added and the parking lot is about twice as large as the previous one.

"We are really, really excited," said Kristin Church, the youth services librarian. "It looks beautiful in here."

Church said library staff will spend this week uploading data on computers, organizing books, restocking offices and working with contractors for last-minute fixes.

Library directors have moved their offices back to the library building after working from the since the summer closure.

"We've missed our patrons; we missed the books," said Elizabeth Gulick, library director. "We are just ready to be back in business."

The grand opening for the library is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Dec. 4, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, music performances, presentations, refreshments and tours.
