March Madness: Where Will You Be Watching?

Area bars will be showing the NCAA tournaments this weekend and offering specials.

It's official, March Madness is here. And there are three Michigan teams who will play in the first round of the NCAA finals on Friday: Michigan State University, University of Michigan, University of Detroit Mercy.

The game line-up is as follows:

  • Michigan vs. Ohio— 7:20 p.m. (TNT)
  • MSU vs. LIU— 9:20 p.m. (TBS)
  • Detroit vs. Kansas— 9:57 p.m. (TruTV)

If the teams win Friday, they will play Sunday against an opponent that is TBA. If you're looking to root on Michigan teams with other basketball fans, there are plenty of area bars that will be showing the tournament. Here are five we've compiled in the area:

The bar will have food and drink specials going on for the entire month of March including 50 cent wings, 22-ounce glasses of beer for $2.50; coneys for $1.50; and a large pizza with two toppings and a pitcher of beer for $15.99. The Hide Out has nine smaller TVs and one big screen.

In downtown Clawson, Black Lotus will showing the March Madness games all weekend. If you stop in Friday, happy hour is from 4-6 p.m. and a late night happy hour from midnight-2 a.m.

CJ Mahoney's will be showing all March Madness games on its TV screens. There are ongoing specials at CJ Mahoney's.

BlackFinn, Royal Oak

If you're in downtown Royal Oak, BlackFinn will be showing the March Madness games as well. While the bar doesn't have any Friday specials, on Saturday and Sunday it has Miller Light draft beers for $2.50 and and bloody Marys for $4.

The March Madness tournaments will be shown at the bar which offers a wide selection of food and drink. The venue has about 10 TV's on both the lower level and upper level.
