Mascot encourages Clawson elementary students to keep reading.
"Go green, go white" echoed in the halls of both and today as students celebrated Reading Month with the Michigan State University mascot 'Sparty.'
Sparty traveled from East Lansing to get the students excited about reading by acting out a children's book, leading chants and taking group photos with the students.Â
Kenwood was already in reading mode since the school hosted a 'Read-In' Thursday where the students could wear pajamas and spend the day reading books in class.

"All the modeling that we can do, this just adds to it," Lewis said.
Schalm first grade teacher Bianca Hill agreed.
"I think it's awesome," Hill said. "I think it's a little more encouraging for the kids ... they have someone to look up to."
