Village Shoe Inn to Open Soon in Clawson

Owners of the shoe store hope to open their doors before Christmas.

A popular Metro Detroit women's shoe store will soon open its doors in Clawson. Owners of the Village Shoe Inn are setting up shop on 14 Mile Road, putting the finishing touches on the store.

While the store has not confirmed a grand opening date, owners say they are certain it will be within the next week or so.

"I want it to open as soon as possible," said Chuck Thibault, who co-owns the store with his wife, Kathy. "The city has given us permission to open."

Thibault said they will soon be finished organizing the store and are waiting for phone lines to be set up.

The Village Shoe Inn has been serving the Metro Detroit area since 1969 and has stores in Rochester, Farmington and Eastpointe. The store sells a large selection of dress shoes and bridal shoes by top designers, including Paris Hilton, that are sold at a discounted price.

"It could be the same shoes that Nordstrom has, and we’ll sell them for at least $20 less," Kathy Thibault said.

This isn't the first time the Village Shoe Inn has been in the Clawson community. The store operated out of the 14 Mile building from 1980 through 2002, when the owners leased it to Republic Bank. When the bank lease ended this year, Chuck Thibault said they decided to move the shoe store back in.

He said 14 Mile is an ideal location because of the heavy traffic that comes through the area.

"It's right between Royal Oak and Birmingham and down the street from Oakland Mall," he said.

The Village Shoe Inn is located at 250 E. 14 Mile Rd. Keep checking Clawson Patch for a grand opening date and more coverage of the Village Shoe Inn.
