Arraignment Set For Accused Workplace Gunman: Cops

Police also identified the victim of the fatal shooting and another man who was wounded.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – The accused gunman in a deadly workplace shooting at Reliable Fence Co. on Tuesday will be arraigned Thursday morning, police said. Police also identified the victim and another man who was wounded in the attack.

The owner of the business, Thomas Edward Badke, 61, of Romeo, died after the fight between the 24-year-old gunman and Joseph Micale, 34, an employee of the company. Police said that the gunman shot Micale twice in the back and then shot Badke.

Police were called to the business just before 9 a.m. Tuesday. After the shooting, other employees jumped the gunman and were able to wrestle the gun away from him, police report. The suspect then fled in his car, but crashed into another car at the intersection of 14 Mile and Groesbeck roads.

Police from the neighboring town of Fraser detained the suspect and he was taken into the custody without further incident. The suspect is being held at the Clinton Township Police station.

Police on Wednesday said that detectives will be presenting their investigation to Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith on Thursday.
