Accidental Gunshot Fired At Clinton Township SOS

No injuries were reported from the shot, according to police.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Michigan Secretary of State customers in Clinton Township got a scare Thursday afternoon when a handgun accidentally went off, according to a Macomb Daily report. The gun belonged to a Chesterfield Township man, who was given misdemeanor ticket for accidental discharge of a firearm.

“The guy was pulling his pants up and got his finger snagged in the finger guard,” said Clinton Township Lt. Curt Randall. “That’s when the gun went off.”

“The gunshot went straight into the ground, Randall said. Investigators were able to locate the bullet casing.”
