A Clinton Township man was convicted of a December 2016 armed robbery. Police claim his victim was murdered by a second suspect.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A 28-year-old Clinton Township man could face life in prison after being convicted of armed robbery. Randy Mahaffey was found guilty Friday by a Macomb County Circuit Court jury or robbing James Capizzo, 44, also of Clinton Township. He will be sentenced on Nov. 2, according to a Macomb Daily report.

“Mahaffey denied taking drugs from Capizzo, only admitting to trading drugs among Capizzo and Christopher Rashawn Jones, 28, of Mount Clemens. Jones is charged with first-degree felony murder, armed robbery and two weapons offenses.”
“Capizzo was shot in the head about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 26 after he, Mahaffey and Jones traded and consumed drugs in Susan Hemmen’s apartment in a building at 195 S. Main St. Hemmen testified at a prior hearing.”
