L’Anse Creuse Schools Searching For Board Member

A recent resignation from the Board of Education has left an opening. Applications are being taken by the district.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — The L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education received the resignation of trustee Linda J. McLatcher effective as of July 24. The Board is seeking applicants to fill the vacancy through December 31, 2018.

To qualify for this position you must be 18 years of age or older and a registered voter of L’Anse Creuse Public Schools. Joining the Board is a significant time commitment. Here is a partial list of responsibilities and events board members attend:

  • Attending 2 Board meetings a month with an average prep time of 2 to 3 hours
  • Receiving 5 to 50 communications per week via email or phone (some requiring responses)
  • Attending numerous school events annually
  • Attending end of year activities such as honors’ nights and graduation ceremonies
  • Participating in Michigan Association of School Board classes and conferences
  • Attending, when possible, monthly MCSBA dinner meetings • Participating on MASB and MISD committees
  • Complying with required Superintendent Evaluation Process and training requirements

Applications will be reviewed by the Board of Education. Applicants must be available to interview in person on August 7, 2017 and August 8, 2017. It is anticipated that appointment to the Board of Education will be made by August 9, 2017.
