MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Macomb County's tree and plant sale has returned for the fifth year with sales aiming to increase the tree canopy in the region.
Green Macomb and the Blue Water Conservation District announced the return of their annual sale Tuesday. The sale serves as an opportunity for the public to purchase young trees, fruit trees, flowering shrubs, wildflower seeds and other fruits and vegetables.

The sale opened Tuesday and will run through April 2. Anyone interested in browsing tree stock can do so online.
“Now more than ever there is a need to get outside and enjoy nature, and there’s no better place to do that than your own backyard,” said Gerard Santoro, program director for Macomb County Parks and Natural Resources, which leads the Green Macomb initiative. “So we are thrilled to once again open the annual tree and plant sale, which provides an affordable opportunity for homeowners to spruce up their gardens and green spaces for spring and summer.”

Since the sale began five years ago, more than 80,000 trees and plants have been purchased by residents, businesses and communities throughout Macomb County.
Other items available in the sale include fruit, oak, maple, lilac and dogwood bushes/trees as well as strawberry, raspberry, asparagus, horseradish and rhubarb plants. Prices range from $5 to $20 while supplies last.
“Every year we have an incredible response from the community, which is fantastic, as their support of the sale is helping Green Macomb meet its goal of increasing tree canopy in the county,” Santoro said. “More trees and plants will help reduce pollutants, reduce home energy usage and increase property values, so there are plenty of benefits to this work.”
All items purchased can be picked up in person or shipped to your home, organizers said. There will be two pick-up locations in Macomb County:
- April 27 & 28 - Armada Fairgrounds
- April 30 & May 1 - Sterling Heights Dodge Park Farmers Market Pavilion
A limited stock of trees and plants will be available for purchase on-site, organizers said.
