Man Points Gun At Comcast Cable Service Workers: Police

Police say the suspect allegedly shot a man in the chest two days after the Comcast incident.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Two Comcast cable television employees who were working on Village Road last month encountered an unhappy customer who allegedly pointed a handgun at them, Clinton Township police said.

The incident occurred about 7 p.m. on Nov. 8, according to a press release.

On 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 10, a 19-year-old Clinton Township man allegedly spotted the suspect in the Comcast incident on Village Rd. The suspect got out of his car and fired a shot in the air. Police said he fired off another shot, which struck the man in the chest as he ran away. The victim was transported by friends to Macomb McLaren Hospital with a non-threatening injury, according to police.

Clinton Township police and the FBI Macomb County Violent Crimes Task Force identified James Frederick Eichelburger, 21, on Dec. 9.

The Macomb County Prosecutor issued a two-count assault with a dangerous weapon charge for the Comcast incident and assault with intent to commit murder and a felony firearm for the shooting incident.

The suspect was arraigned on Monday in 41st B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Daniel Goulette, who set his bond at $1 million on the charge of intent to commit murder and felony firearm and $75,000 bond on the felonious assault charge.

He was transported and lodged at the Macomb County Jail, where he remains in custody.
