Memphis Man Charged In Macomb County Child Abuse Investigation
Authorities said a 4-year-old boy had stomach and arm injuries that required surgery.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A Memphis man was arraigned Friday in 42-1 Romeo District Court on one count of first-degree child abuse, Macomb County authorities said.
Justin McCoy, 26, was arrested following an investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, which was contacted by the Memphis Police Department for assistance in a suspected child abuse case, authorities said.
According to the sheriff's office, a 4-year-old boy was taken to the Detroit Medical Center Children's Hospital with multiple injuries on Wednesday. Some of the injuries were to the boy's arm and stomach region, authorities said, and required surgery.

The sheriff's office in its investigation interviewed the child and his mother, officials said. McCoy became a suspect and was arrested for an active traffic warrant out of Eastpointe prior to being charged in the child abuse case, according to the sheriff's office.
Children's Protective Services has been contacted, the sheriff's office said.

McCoy's bail was set at $350,000. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 23.
