Police Agencies To Have Extra Patrols For Thanksgiving Eve
Police agencies across Macomb County will be extra vigilant this holiday weekend for drunk drivers.

The Macomb Sheriff's Office will have extra patrols on the road for Thanksgiving eve - which is often called the busiest bar night of the year - and throughout the long holiday weekend.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham reminds those planning on going out and celebrating to designate a driver, according to a release.
“We want everyone to enjoy themselves. If you chose to drink, please do so responsibly and arrange for transportation at the end of the night. Simply put, we want everyone to get home safely," Wickersham wrote in a release.
Additionally, motorists are reminded to be watchful for deer crossing the roads. With the drop in temperatures and with hunting season in full swing, the deer are much more active. At this time of year, there is a marked increase in the number of car/deer collisions this time of year.
So far in November, there have been 40 car/deer crashes in the northern part of Macomb County. Two of those crashes resulted in injuries to the driver or vehicle occupants.
By comparison, the Sheriff’s Office investigated 43 car/deer crashes in November 2012. Those crashes resulted in injuries to three vehicle occupants.
There were 19 car/deer crashes in the month of Oct. 2013 according to a release.
