Suspect Charged In Murder Will Use Insanity Defense: Attorney
An 18-year-old Clinton Township woman is accused of stabbing her mother to death last Christmas Day.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A Clinton Township teen charged with killing her mother Christmas Day of 2016 will use an insanity defense at her Feb. 15 trial in Macomb County Circuit Court, according to a Macomb Daily Tribune report. Police allege Delilah Evans, 18, stabbed her mother more than 100 times in killing her.
"She told police her mother actually was “Helen” who needed to be killed because she had kidnapped her and her siblings when they were babies, said her attorney, Adil Haradhvala, Wednesday during and following a circuit court hearing in Mount Clemens regarding the admission of her statements."
“Our position is she may be mentally ill but her actions show she knew the difference between right and wrong,” said Assistant Macomb Prosecutor Bill Cataldo, chief of homicides.
