Suspect Faces Felony Charges In Violent Clinton Township Home Invasion: Police

Police say the suspect struck the woman in the head, held a knife to her throat and fled the scene with two handguns and other items.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A woman walked into her Clinton Township home only to discover a man ransacking the place, according to police.

The incident happened on Feb. 6 at 7:54 a.m. at a residence on Grandy in the 15 Mile and Gratiot area. Police say the man struck the woman in the head and held a knife to her throat before fleeing with two stolen handguns and other items. Police and a Sheriff tracking dog were immediately on the scene but the suspect was gone. Police described the suspect as a black man in his 30's with a goatee, approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build, and he was wearing a black hoodie.

That same day, detectives secured a multi-count warrant for 29-year-old Detroit man Pierre Tipton, who is on parole for home invasion. The suspect faces a long list of charges: armed robbery (life and or any other term or years), home invasion first degree (20 year felony), unlawful imprisonment (15 year felony), larceny of firearm (5 year felony), larceny of firearm (5 year felony), felony firearm (2 year felony), felony firearm (2 year felony) and criminal sexual conduct 4th degree (2 year misdemeanor).

Police report that Tipton was arrested on Feb. 9 with the assistance of U.S. Marshalls. He is set to be arraigned in 41-B District Court in Clinton Township on Feb. 10.
